Adventure Youth Camps

VISION

Impact Adventure-Africa is to see people of all ages and cultures come together unified and empowered by sharing the belief that they hold the power to create and shape how they live and grow within their own communities.

COMPANY MOTTO

As adapted by Dr. Robinson, part of original quote by Goethe:

I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, Involve me and I will understand, Inspire me and I will take action!!

Impact Adventure-Africa’s Youth Development Methodology

Appreciative Inquiry (AI) differs from traditional “problem solving” approaches. AI focuses on the life-giving forces among the young people and helps identify those forces through inquiry and collaboration. As an approach or philosophy AI is working with change in any human system (Youth, adults, families, groups, organizations, communities; as well as corporate and government systems)

At Impact Adventure-Africa Appreciative Inquiry is used as a lever for driving Social Change through discovering, dreaming, designing and delivering.

Our main focus in the Adventure Youth Camp is the development of high-quality teamwork, build on the foundation of self-mastery and experiential leadership. We firmly believe that leadership skills are identified and developed in a practical setting supported by sound theory, with community and environmental outreach programs. The aim of outreach is not a one off touch and go, the whole aim is to involve the youth in an ongoing environmental and community project with a scope beyond just the week at camp.

During the youth’s time with us, we divide the group (max 32) into teams (max 8 members) in which they will do various activities that will enhance the four corner pillars of Impact Adventure – Africa’s development program.

  • Self-Development – Obstacles, Challenges, Adventure Based Activities, Communication games with a variety of team tasks that require creativity, initiative, endurance and teamwork
  • Spirituality

In the later part of 2014, skills development was added to the company profile. We offer an alternative GAP year program for youth. This is done with the assistance of our strategic partnership with Adventure Qualification Network under the Directorship of Mr. Andrew Friedemann, a Multi-Disciplined Adventure Professional. We offer NQF 4 Generic Adventure Site Guide to youth in Southern Africa. The NQF 4 qualification is registered at the South African Qualification Authority as an equivalent to Matric. We are currently affiliated at the University of North West as a flagship Adventure Operator, which offer internships and holiday work to the students from the University, which are studying towards their degree in recreation and tourism.
